#Rockies reinstate catcher Wil Nieves from 15-day disabled list and designate him for assignment.
Nieves has appeared in 16 games with the Rockies this season. Over 47 at-bats, he hit at a clip of .298/.333/.404 with three extra-base hits and five RBIs. The 34-year-old has been out since early July while dealing with turf toe.
The Rockies signed Nieves this off-season after he spent the 2011 campaign with the Milwaukee Brewers and Atlanta Braves. He appeared in 20 games with the Brewers, but spent a majority of the season playing at the Triple-A level.
Nieves saw his most extensive playing time as a member of the Washington Nationals. He collected 558 at-bats over three seasons with the club between 2008-2010, hitting at a combined clip of .244/.293/.315.
