The Arizona Diamondbacks placed RHP Josh Collmenter on the DL with ulcers, as reported by Jack MaGruder of FOXSportsArizona.com.

Collmenter, who last pitched on August 8, was recently converted back to a bullpen role after beginning the year as a starter for the team. His last appearance as a starting pitcher was July 27.

In his place, the D'Backs will call up RHP Brad Bergesen to serve as the long man. Bergesen’s last appearance on the team was July 29. He has only pitched five innings for the big league club on the season, putting up a 1.80 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and four strikeouts. Replacing Collmenter with Bergesen should not be a back-breaker for the team’s playoff chances.

Collmenter was sporting a 4.24 ERA, 8.4 K/9, and 1.32 WHIP in seventy-four and a third innings while serving as both a starter and a reliever on the year.
