The Boston Red Sox have been hit by yet another injury, this time to Will Middlebrooks. The third baseman suffered a broken wrist after being drilled by a 95 MPH heater in the 9th inning to his right wrist, according to The Boston Globe's Pete Abraham. The Red Sox will call up newly acquired third baseman Danny Valencia for Saturday's game, Abraham adds.

It's unclear how long Middlebrooks will be sidelined for, but this injury could potentially be season ending, given there are only seven weeks left until the season is wrapped up.
The 23-year-old Middlebrooks entered Friday batting .292/.326/.515 with 15 home runs in 282 plate appearances as a rookie. Now, the reeling Red Sox will be hopeful the 27-year-old Valencia can step in and be a stopgap for the remainder of the year, because they just don't have any other options.
