The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated left-handed pitcher Mike Zagurski for assignment, the team has announced. In related moves, the D'Backs placed infielder Willie Bloomquist on the disabled list, which created two open roster spots for the promotions of Bryan Shaw and Jacob Elmore.

The move starts a ten day clock for the D'Backs to trade, release or outright Zagurski to the minor leagues. The team will be hoping to keep Zagurski in their organization, because he is a lefty reliever.

The 29-year-old southpaw struggled with the team, posting a 6.18 ERA across 27 2/3 innings of work with a low 1.86 strikeout to walk ratio. Right handed batters shelled Zagurski and while left handed batters to didn't have the same success, batting .256/.320/.395 isn't exactly struggling.
