No Extension Talks Between Reds, Dusty Baker

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker is in the final year of his two-year contract with the team, and it appears his contract will not be renewed as of right now. The skipper tells John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer he and the Reds have not talked about a contract extension since spring training.

"The last time we talked about it was spring training," Baker said. "I've got work to do."

Ownership has stated they would like to see Dusty Baker as their manager for years to come, but perhaps they are looking for a successful season from the team. The Reds disappointed last year by missing the playoffs entirely, but are currently in the drivers seat for winning their division.

While Baker continues to work for a new deal with the Reds or another team, Fay writes "working as quasi-lame duck has put a bit of a chip on Baker's shoulder
