The Boston Red Sox have placed first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on trade waivers, a source has told Sean McAdam of CSN Northeast:
Source: Sox placed Adrian Gonzalez on trade waivers today. Pretty standard stuff in Aug., but perhaps willing to listen on him this winter?

While placing players on waivers is par for the course in the month of August and Gonzalez is very likely to stay put, there is always the chance that Boston's front office will receive an offer for him they can explore at length during the offseason.
The Los Angeles Dodgers expressed interest in Gonzalez this summer, but it is unknown whether the team would continue to pursue him during the winter.
In his second year with the Red Sox, the 30-year-old Gonzalez has had a bit of a down year by his lofty standards, hitting .304/.349/.478 with fifteen home runs in one hundred twenty-one games. The lefty slugger is in the second of a seven-year, $154 million deal with the Red Sox that could keep him in Boston through the 2018 season.
