Right-hander Kyle Lohse has not been approached about a contract extension by his current club, the St. Louis Cardinals, and he has requested that his agent Scott Boras take a wait-and-see approach to negotiations, reports Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

"I'm not going to them. I figure if they're interested, they'd come to me. That hasn't happened," Lohse said. "They know where I'm at. I'm in the same place I've been the last five years. I've enjoyed it here. They've done some great things for me and I'd like to think I've done some things for this organization. It's a business. I know that. The time to address it will come sooner or later."

Following Jake Westbrook’s agreement on a 2013 contract, including a mutual option for 2014, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak talked about his team’s rotation for next season. The first five names included in the discussion were Westbrook, Adam Wainwright, Jaime Garcia, Lance Lynn and, if healthy, Chris Carpenter.

If Carpenter isn’t healthy, Mozeliak said St. Louis is prepared to move forward with several young fifth-starter candidates, including Joe Kelly, Shelby Miller and Trevor Rosenthal. Lohse’s name was not brought up in these discussions.

Since joining the Cardinals prior to the 2008 season, Lohse has posted an ERA of 3.91. The 33-year-old is in the midst of a career-season, as he's maintained a 2.61 ERA with 5.5 SO/9 and 1.7 BB/9 over twenty-six starts.

What type of contract will Lohse warrant this off-season?
