The Chicago Cubs have designated left-handed pitcher Alex Hinshaw for assignment and off the team's 40-man roster, as reported by Carrie Muskat of MLB.com. The move was made in order to open up a roster spot for Blake Parker, who is being recalled from Class Triple-A Iowa.

Chicago will now have ten days to trade, release or outright Hinshaw to the minor leagues. No matter which option the Cubs choose, there is a good chance the Cubs lose Hinshaw to another organization.
The 29-year-old made just 2 appearances for the Cubs since being claimed off of waivers from the Padres. The first one was successful, but the other one couldn't have gone worse. Hinshaw came into the game and left the game without recording an out. He was tagged for 4 hits, 3 of which were home runs, and allowed 5 runs.
