The Oakland Athletics outrighted right-hander Graham Godfrey to Triple-A Sacramento yesterday after he cleared waivers, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle:
The 28-year-old Godfrey, who was designated for assignment last week to make room on the roster for the newly-acquired Stephen Drew, made four spot starts for Oakland this season. The right-hander made five appearances overall, posting a 6.43 ERA, 4.3 K/9 and 4.3 BB/9 in twenty-one innings of work.
Acquired in the 2007 trade that sent Marco Scutaro to the Blue Jays, Godfrey has performed much better in Triple-A of late than his major league numbers would dictate. In seventeen Triple-A starts this season, the righty owns a 3.29 ERA, 5.2 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9 across one hundred four innings of work.
Though off the 40-man roster for the time being, Godfrey may see time in Oakland as a September call-up.
