#Rockies place LHP Jonathan Sanchez on 15-day DL with bicep tendinitis. Recall RHP Tyler Chatwood. Chatwood (#32) will start today vs. SF.
In a corresponding roster move, the Rockies recalled right-hander Tyler Chatwood to start yesterday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.
After a rough start to the season, Sanchez was designated for assignment by the Kansas City Royals and soon after traded to Rockies in exchange for right-hander Jeremy Guthrie.
Sanchez’s struggles have continued with Colorado, as the 29-year-old’s allowed thirteen runs over eleven and one-third innings, increasing his ERA to 8.07 on the season.
Chatwood, 22, struggled against the Giants yesterday, giving up three runs, one earned, on two hits and four walks with one strikeout over three and one-third innings of work.
The Rockies acquired Chatwood this off-season from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for catcher Chris Iannetta. He’s maintained an ERA of 4.70 over 13 starts between Double- and Triple-A, with 7.8 SO/9 and 3.8 BB/9.
