#Padres reinstate RHP Andrew Cashner and LHP Joe Thatcher from the disabled list. Active roster now at 27.
The Padres’ active roster is now at 27 players with the two pitchers. Cashner, 25, has been on the disabled list since July 4, 2012.
Before getting hurt, Cashner was just put into the starting rotation but left his last start after only two innings and only three games started. His longest start this year was only 6.1 innings. For the year, he’s pitching at a 3.44 ERA, 44 Ks in just 36.2 IPs.
Thatcher, 30, has been sidelined since July 26, 2012 and will most likely return to the bullpen role. He was at a 3.42 ERA, 28 Ks in just 26.1 IPs in the pen.
The two Ps will return in time to help the Padres (62-71) continue a strong run of 10 wins in the last 11 games.
