While the 2012 regular season has yet to conclude, today’s announcement by Major League Baseball of its 2013 schedule has fans looking ahead to next year.

Based on the schedule the league has provided, it appears that it’s had enough mid-week starts, as Opening Day 2013 will once again be on a Monday. MLB is also not planning on starting one series a week prior to every other as they did this year when the Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners faced off in Japan.

While Opening Day 2013 is set for Monday April 1, the season’s first contest will be nationally broadcast the night before. Depending on the outcome of this year’s playoffs and World Series, one of the twelve games scheduled for April 1 will be bumped to March 31.
