Are You a Fan of the Extra Wild Card?

The additional of a second Wild Card spot to each league has created quite the playoff race this season. Are you a fan of the new system and extra Wild Card team?

Last season the race for the postseason came down to the final day of the season, and to the final at-bat in some instances. Entering this season, it seemed that last year’s playoff chase would be impossible to top. However, with the additional Wild Card teams now implemented, it looks like we could be in for another exhilarating ride this fall.

Entering play today, two division races were within 1 ½ games. On top of this, there are four American League teams vying for the two Wild Card spots, with the Los Angeles Angels sitting two games back of the Oakland Athletics and the Tampa Bay Rays three. The Baltimore Orioles currently are currently in control of the first AL Wild Card.

In the National League the race isn’t quite as tight, as the Atlanta Braves have nearly cemented their spot as the first Wild Card team. The St. Louis Cardinals are attempting to hold off the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers, who are each 3 ½ games back of the second Wild Card spot.

Now that the 2012 playoff picture is becoming more clear, are you in favor of the additional Wild Card team?
