The Texas Rangers have signed Jurickson Profar’s younger brother, Juremi, a 16-year-old third baseman from Curacao, reports Ben Badler of Baseball America:
Rangers shortstop Jurickson Profar homered in his major league debut on Sunday, but that wasn’t the only big day for the Profar family this week. The Rangers have also signed Profar’s younger brother, Juremi Profar, a 16-year-old third baseman from Curacao.
The terms of Juremi’s contract with the Rangers were not reported in the article.
Badler notes that at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds, Juremi has "the size, hands and arm strength to play third base, while showing flashes of power in games from the right side." While he isn’t as highly-touted as his older brother, who some consider to be the top prospect in baseball, Juremi was a standout in the 2007 and 2008 Little League World Series.
Badler expects the 16-year-old to begin his career with in the Rangers’ Dominican Summer League.
