According to Topkin, the newly recalled P Chris Archer will pitch in his place.
The weekend game against the Rangers would be the first start missed in 2012 for the Tampa Bay ace. Price, 27, has pitched 180.2 innings so far in the season and is in the middle of a CY-esque campaign. His line, 17-5 record, 2.54 ERA, and 175 Ks ranks amongst baseball’s elite pitchers.
The Rays will need Price back soon to continue a push toward a playoff spot. They are currently third in the division with a record of 75-62 and are two games behind both the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Yankees. Price’s replacement, Chris Archer will make his first start since June 26, 2012.
