The Baltimore Orioles recalled P Jake Arrieta, as reported by Brittany Ghiroli, the Baltimore Orioles reporter for MLB.com.

Arrieta would be called up from class AAA after initially starting the season with the O’s. He last pitched on June 5, 2012 against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in a 3.2 IP thumping that saw his ERA jump to 6.13. He will rejoin a team that is tied for first in the AL East with a 77-60 record.

Currently, the team is in the middle of a series against the New York Yankees. Overall, Arrieta’s pitched 101.1 innings with 89 Ks and a 1.41 WHIP. If Arrieta is placed in the bullpen instead of the rotation, it would be the first time in his tenure for the major league club.

Most likely, Arrieta will replace P Steve Johnson and join a rotation alongside Wei-Yin Chen, Joe Saunders, Chris Tillman, and Miguel Gonzalez.
