Rockies not planning on moving Cuddyer

The Colorado Rockies are not planning on trading Michael Cuddyer, reports Jon Paul Morosi of Fox Sports. Morosi says that the Mariners asked about the veterans availability earlier in the offseason, but were told that he is unavailable.

Cuddyer, 33, signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract prior to last season. He suffered from a strained oblique and missed nearly two months with the injury. He hit .260/.317/.489 with 16 home runs over 394 plate appearances. For his career, Cuddyer is a .271/.341/.454 hitter with 157 home runs in 12 seasons. He spent the first 11 years of his career with the Minnesota Twins.

Cuddyer is a versatile player as he can play both corner outfield positions as well as first base. The 2011 all-star is owed $21 million over the next two seasons. He will play right field and first base for the Rockies, while providing some power in the middle of their lineup.
