Rick Porcello rumors: Tigers want quick resolution?

The Detroit Tigers are fielding calls from myriad teams about right-hander Rick Porcello. If the club is going to act on a trade proposal for the young starter, they are going to do so soon -- possibly even this week, speculates Lynn Henning of the Detroit News:

Dombrowski is talking with clubs galore, primarily about Porcello.

And you can understand for reasons beyond Dombrowski's normal methodology why he would like to make this deal within the next 10 days, if possible...

The quantity of teams inquiring about Porcello means Dombrowski is dealing with a seller's market and that the right offer could be taking shape even this week.

Henning believes that the impetus for a quick deal is the club's upcoming publicity tour. If Dombrowski is unable to swap Porcello before the trip begins, he can likely expect an endless number of questions about trade possibilities rather than the upcoming season--which is supposed to be the focus of the tour.

The Angels, Diamondbacks, Orioles, Mariners, Padres, and Pirates are all believed to be vying for Porcello. Detroit is looking for a shortstop, late-inning reliever, or right-handed hitting outfielder in exchange for the right-hander.

Porcello, 24, amassed a 4.59 ERA and 5.5 K/9 rate in 31 starts for the Tigers in 2012, his fourth full season with the club.
