UPDATE: Mark Lowe won't be alone on the mound Wednesday. Former Mariners teammate Ryan Rowland-Smith -- who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2010 -- will be throwing alongside him, reports Crasnick:

Original Story: Free-agent right-hander Mark Lowe will throw an open bullpen session on Wednesday in order to draw up interest from big-league clubs, reports Jerry Crasnick of ESPN:

Lowe, 29, pitched well out of the bullpen for the Texas Rangers last season - posting a 3.43 ERA and 6.4 K/9 rate in 39⅓ innings -- but has been unable to garner the attention of any clubs since hitting the open market this winter.

The seven-year vet suffered a strain in his right intercostal (ribs) muscles at midseason that cost him part of the year, but Lowe is believed to be in good health now.

It's a bit surprising that Lowe is still available at this point in the winter given his track record of success, but that should change after his session on Wednesday. Lowe owns a 3.94 ERA and 7.4 K/9 rate in 253 appearances with the Mariners and Rangers in his seven-year MLB tenure.
