The Baltimore Orioles have signed free agent outfielder Chris Dickerson to a minor league contract that includes an invitation to major league spring training, according to Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports.
Dickerson spent the 2012 season with the New York Yankees. The 30-year-old collected four hits, including two home runs, over 14 at-bats for the Yankees. He was with New York's Triple-A affiliate for much of the season, hitting .316/.417/.515 with 24 doubles, four triples and seven home runs over 266 at-bats.
Dickerson has hit .266/.352/.407 over parts of five seasons at the major league level. He has the ability to man all three outfield positions.
Kubatko notes that the O's are well-stocked with outfielders. Adam Jones and Nick Markakis are set to be the team's regulars in center and right field. Manager Buck Showalter will have multiple options to fill the void in left, including Nolan Reimold, Nate McLouth, Trayvon Robinson, Lew Ford, Jason Pridie, Conor Jackson and now Dickerson.
