Minor NL moves: Robinson, Moore, Tosoni, Chavez

The latest small transactions involving players with whom you may be unfamiliar.

Hannah Foslien

It is about that time of the offseason when many teams have made their big moves and are now starting to tinker with minor-league rosters to add depth. Many players have moved around the past few days, though several of them are players you (and I) may have never heard of.

Here are the latest moves from the National League:

Signings

  • The Cincinnati Reds have inked three players -- right-hander Jeff Marquez, outfielder Derrick Robinson, and right-hander Kevin Whelan -- to minor-league deals, reports Matt Eddy of Baseball America.
  • Eddy also reports that the Colorado Rockies have signed two pitchers to minors deals: left-hander Eric Threets and right-hander Tim Gustafson.
  • Back at it again, Eddy reports that the Los Angeles Dodgers have signed outfielder Jeremy Moore -- who missed all of 2012 with an injury -- to a minor-league contract.
  • The Milwaukee Brewers have signed outfielder Rene Tosoni and shortstop Ozzie Chavez to minor-league deals, reports Adam McCalvy of MLB.com.
