Rockies rumors: Derek Lowe, Brandon Webb, Freddy Garcia

Rockies expected to express interest in potential low-cost starting pitchers, including Derek Lowe, Brandon Webb and Freddy Garcia.

The Colorado Rockies continue to look for starting pitching, and while nothing is brewing on the trade front Troy Renck of The Denver Post believes the team will express interest in free agents Derek Lowe, Freddy Garcia and Brandon Webb:

Lowe and Garcia started games at the major league level last season, but both veterans were also used out of the bullpen. Webb hasn’t pitched in the bigs since the 2009 season, as he’s been hampered with arm injuries that have sidelined him.

Lowe appeared in 38 games last season, 21 starts for the Cleveland Indians and 17 relief appearances for the New York Yankees. Combined he maintained an ERA of 5.11, but as a starter his ERA was 5.52.

Garcia made 30 appearances for the Yankees in 2012, including 17 starts. The right-hander posted an ERA of 5.20.
