Justin Upton rumors: Braves, Mariners, Rangers

After signing free agent outfielder Cody Ross, the Arizona Diamondbacks once again "very much open" to talking about trading Justin Upton with other teams, according to Buster Olney of ESPN:

Olney adds that the Diamondbacks demands have changed since earlier in the offseason. Arizona was seeking a young shortstop, but they acquired Didi Gregarious during their three-team trade.

The Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Atlanta Braves have all expressed strong interest in Upton, according to Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports.

Rosenthal and Morosi add that the Mariners are particularly eager to add offense, and Upton is perhaps the team’s most realistic pursuit. They report that Seattle has had on-and-off discussions with the Diamondbacks throughout the offseason.

The Braves "made strong overtures" for Upton earlier in the offseason, while the Rangers thought they were close to acquiring the outfielder during the winter meetings. While Texas was unwilling to move Elvis Andrus or Jurickson Profar for Upton, sources say they would prefer to structure a deal around third baseman Mike Olt.

Last season for the Diamondbacks Upton hit .280/.355/.430 with 24 doubles, four triples and 17 home runs over 554 at-bats.
