Martinez spent the 2012 season with the Rangers, collecting two hits over 18 at-bats. The 27-year-old spent a majority of the season with Texas’ Triple-A affiliate, where he hit .270/.350/.386 with 15 doubles, two triples and two home runs over 247 at-bats.
The Rangers acquired Martinez from the San Diego Padres last offseason in exchange for Ryan Kelly. Over 77 at-bats at the major league level, Martinez has hit .182/.276/.260 with three extra-base hits. He owns a career line of .272/.362/.364 over parts of six seasons at in the minors.
