No moves have gotten done yet in Orlando, but three free agents seem to be moving closer to getting signed. Over the next four days at the Winter Meetings, these are some names to watch.
Eric O'Flaherty
O'Flaherty, the former Braves lefty who had Tommy John surgery last season, seems to be moving closer to a deal with the Washington Nationals. The Nats have been looking at almost every available left-handed relief option, and Adam Kilgore of the Washington Post says that they are currently in "contract talks" with O'Flaherty. The Dodgers and Phillies are also interested in the 28-year old, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com, who notes that the Nationals are making a "strong run" at him.
Juan Uribe
Uribe has been known to be looking for a multi-year deal on the free agent market, but teams seem more willing to give him a one- or two-year contract. The Dodgers have made multiple offers to him, but GM Ned Colletti says that they are waiting to hear back. Mark Saxon of ESPNLosAngeles.com reports that Uribe is no longer looking for a three-year deal, and that the Dodgers either want to give him a three year deal or less money than he is asking for. Another one of Uribe's former teams, the White Sox, is looking to sign Uribe as well, according to David Vassegh of Dodger Talk. Expect a resolution on Uribe within the next couple of days.
Omar Infante
Infante will be in Orlando meeting with teams this week, according to a source. The Yankees reportedly remain very interested in signing him after the departure of Robinson Cano, and Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com notes that the Royals are also pursuing him. Unconfirmed talk surfaced on Sunday night that Infante was meeting with the Royals in their suite, which remains a possibility. He is expected to receive a three- or four-year deal as the best remaining second baseman on the free agent market.
