Shin-Soo Choo talks reaching critical stage

The Rangers and D-Backs are among the teams who are interested.

With Robinson Cano and Jacoby Ellsbury off the board, outfielder Shin-Soo Choo remains as the top free agent available on the market. With the Winter Meetings underway in Orlando, Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com notes that talks for Choo are reaching a "critical stage", meaning that a deal could get done in the near future.

According to Rosenthal, the Rangers and Diamondbacks are interested in signing Choo, and other reports indicate that the Tigers and Reds are among the teams who could also make a serious run at signing him. There is no clear favorite at this point, but agent Scott Boras is likely to get the best deal possible for his client soon.

Choo is expected to command a deal in the seven-year, $125-150 million deal after posting a .285 average with 21 HR and 54 RBI in 154 games for the Reds in 2013.
