The Washington Nationals have signed free agent left-hander Will Ohman to a minor league contract which includes an invitation to major league spring training, the team has announced.

Ohman spent the past two years with the Chicago White Sox after signing with the club prior to the 2011 season. After maintaining a 4.22 ERA over 59 appearances in 2011, Ohman struggled to the tune of a 6.41 ERA through 32 appearances last year. This resulted in his release in early July.

Ohman was signed by the Cincinnati Reds later that month, but he never made it beyond Triple-A. Last season for the Reds' affiliate, the left-hander maintained an ERA of 4.09 over 15 appearances.

Ohman has spent parts of 10 seasons in the majors with the White Sox, Reds, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Miami Marlins and Baltimore Orioles. The 35-year-old owns a career ERA of 4.28 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 2.11.
