Last week we saw MLB.com's top 100 prospect list. Now, as pitchers and catchers prepare to report, ESPN's Keith Law offers his organizational rankings. This list ranks all 30 MLB farm systems from top to bottom.
It's Law's belief that the St. Louis Cardinals, behind solid drafting, trades and activity in Latin America, are this year's top farm system. He believes St. Louis' minor league best fulfills the main goals of farm systems; provide talent for the major league club, while also providing prospects for potential trades that can do the same.
Some of the names that help net the Cardinals the top spot in Law's ranking include Shelby Miller and Trevor Rosenthal, who he considers to be ready to make an impact at the major league level, as well as Oscar Taveras, who he labels as the best pure offensive prospect in the minors.
Below are Law's top 10 organizations. You can check out the remainder of the list along with Law's explanation for each ranking at ESPN.
1. St. Louis Cardinals
5. Chicago Cubs
10. New York Yankees
