The San Francisco Giants have agreed to sign right-handed reliever Ramon Ramirez, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports:

The Giants traded Ramirez and Andres Torres to the New York Mets in exchange for Angel Pagan last winter. The right-hander appeared in 58 games for the Mets, maintaining a 4.24 ERA with 7.4 strikeouts and 4.9 walks per nine innings.

It marked the fifth time Ramirez was traded. The 31-year-old has been included in deals involving Shawn Chacon, Jorge De La Rosa and Coco Crisp.

The Giants initially acquired Ramirez from the Boston Red Sox at the 2010 MLB trade deadline. He was fantastic down the stretch for the club, posting a 0.67 ERA over 25 appearances, and he followed this up with a solid performance in 2011, posting a 2.62 ERA over 66 appearances.

The Giants hope Ramirez can regain the form he previously flashed with the club. Over parts of seven seasons at the major league level, Ramirez owns a career ERA of 3.32 with 7.6 strikeouts and 3.9 walks per nine innings.
