Vladimir Guerrero rumors: Slugger attempting comeback

Veteran slugger Vladimir Guerrero is attempting to come back and play in the majors, and he recently sent out a video expressing his interest and willingness to sign a minor league contract, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Rosenthal adds that California Sports Management is now representing Guerrero, and says the slugger's willingness to accept a minor league deal should help his cause. Fellow veteran DH Jim Thome's demands for a major league contract seem to have lessened the amount of interest he's garnered this winter.

For those of you wondering, Rosenthal says the New York Yankees are not interested in Guerrero.

Guerrero hasn't appeared in the major since 2011 when he was a member of the Baltimore Orioles. That season he hit .290/.317/.416 with 30 doubles and 13 home runs over 590 plate appearances.

Following his 2011 campaign, Guerrero signed with the Toronto Blue Jays. After spending 12 games with the team's Triple-A club, the veteran requested his release and has not played professionally since.

Guerrero was used strictly has a DH by the Orioles in 2011, and hasn't appeared in more than 18 games in the outfield in a single season since 2009. The 38-year-old owns a career batting line of .318/.379/.553, but he hit .295/.332/.458 from 2009-11.
