Orioles injury updates: Chris Tillman, Nolan Reimold, Tsuyoshi Wada

Earlier today, the Baltimore Orioles announced that right fielder Nick Markakis will be shut down for a week after being diagnosed with a small disk herniation in his neck. Manager Buck Showalter provided reporters, including Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports, with several other injury updates, including news on outfielder Nolan Reimold, right-hander Chris Tillman and left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada.

Tillman recently experienced soreness in his abdomen area, and the team is considering the right-hander as day-to-day. He was able to play catch yesterda without experiencing discomfort, so he could return to spring training play soon.

After a strong showing in 2012, Tillman is projected to be the O's No. 3 starter this season. The 24-year-old maintained an ERA of 2.93 over 15 starts last year.

Reimold threw from 90 feet and is close to returning to the lineup for the Orioles. He was shut down earlier in camp due to right shoulder soreness.

After getting off to a hot start, Reimold was sidelined for a majority of the 2012 campaign due to injury. Before his injury, the 29-year-old hit .313/.333/.627 with 11 extra-base hits over 69 plate appearances.

Wada threw from 60 feet yesterday after throwing off a mound again this weekend. The left-hander continues to recover from Tommy John surgery he underwent last May. The Orioles are hoping to have the 32-year-old available in May.

Baltimore signed Wada to a two-year contract last offseason. He's yet to appear in a game for the Birds, as he dealt with elbow issues last year that ultimately resulted in season-ending surgery.
