There are decisions remaining to be made regarding the Philadelphia Phillies outfield, and Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly reports that the team could add an outfielder from outside the organization.
More Phillies: Kyle Kendrick 2013 Preview
Barring injury, the Phillies are set to enter the regular season with outfielders Domonic Brown, John Mayberry Jr. Ben Revere and Laynce Nix on the active roster. There is room on the bench for one more outfielder, and it remains to be determined who will fill this role.
Salisbury notes that Rule 5 Draft pick Ender Inciarte could end up in the position, but he also believes Philadelphia will look outside the organization for potential options. The Phillies thought enough of Inciarte to select him over the winter, but he's only posted an OPS of .675 this spring and hasn't played above the Single-A level.
If the Phillies were to look to the market, Salisbury lists Seattle Mariners outfielder Casper Wells and Ryan Sweeney of the Boston Red Sox as potential targets. There also figures to be several other extra outfielder-type players to become available in the coming days with the regular season approaching.
