The Tampa Bay Rays have traded right-hander Dane De La Rosa to the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for right-hander Steve Geltz, according to Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times.
De La Rosa appeared in five games for the Rays last season, allowing seven runs over five innings. He made his major league debut in 2011, allowing eight runs over 7 1/3 innings.
The 30-year-old spent a majority of last year with the Rays' Triple-A affiliate. He maintained an ERA of 2.79 over 67 2/3 innings with a strikeout-to-walk ratio (SO/BB) of 2.07. Over parts of nine seasons in the minors, he owns a career ERA of 3.75 with 2.45 SO/BB.
Geltz made his major league debut last season, allowing one run over two innings. He spent much of the season with Los Angeles' Double- and Triple-A affiliates. Over a combined 46 appearances, the 25-year-old posted a 3.05 ERA with 3.50 SO/BB. Over parts of five seasons in the minors, he owns a career ERA of 3.69 with 3.31 SO/BB.
