Cubs outright Guillermo Moscoso to Triple-A

Right-hander Guillermo Moscoso has cleared waivers, and the Chicago Cubs have outrighted him to Triple-A.

USA TODAY Sports

Right-hander Guillermo Moscoso has cleared waivers, and the Chicago Cubs have outrighted him to Triple-A, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of The Chicago Sun-Times.

The Cubs recently claimed Moscoso off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. So far this spring, the right-hander has maintained an ERA of 12.86 over five appearances spanning seven innings.

It's been an adventurous offseason for Moscoso , as the Cubs mark the third team that's claimed him since the end of the 2012 campaign. He was initially selected off waivers by the Kansas City Royals in November, and the Blue Jays just picked him up on March 16.

Moscoso came up through the Detroit Tigers minor league system before being traded three times since 2008. He was dealt to the Texas Rangers and then the Oakland Athletics before joining the Rockies last season.

Moscoso has spent parts of four seasons in the majors. His most significant stretch came in 2011, when he posted an ERA of 3.38 over 21 starts for the A's. During his time in the bigs, the 29-year-old owns a career ERA of 4.16.
