Biogensis PED Scandal: Alex Rodriguez believed to have purchased clinic documents

Major League Baseball has uncovered what they believe is evidence that a representative of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez purchased medical records from Biogenesis -- the South Florida anti-aging clinic that allegedly provided performance-enhancing drugs to several major league players, according to Michael S. Schmidt of The New York Times.

MLB had reportedly purchased documents from Biogenesis to further investigate the allegations of PED sales and the players involved. At the time of the initial report, there was speculation that a player had also purchased documents from a former clinic employee so that they could be destroyed.

Thursday's brawl ended with a significant injury to the Dodgers' ace.

That player was identified by two unnamed sources as Rodriguez. A spokesman for the veteran slugger's has since denied the allegation.

Rodriguez was one of several players tied to Biogenesis in January, when the Miami New Times released its report. Also connected to the clinic were Melky Cabrera, Gio Gonzalez, Bartolo Colon, Nelson Cruz and Yasmani Grandal. Other players -- including Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun -- have since been connected.
