West notes: Cody Ross, Chad Billingsley, Chris Snyder

Several MLB updates from out west, involving Cody Ross' calf, Chad Billingsley's finger, and the Angels' catching depth.

Billingsley eyeing Apr. 10 return

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Chad Billingsley is set to make a minor league rehab appearance Thursday. The 28-year-old is recovering from a contusion on the index finger of his throwing hand. Los Angeles only anticipates him requiring one start in the minors before rejoining the starting rotation on Apr. 10.

Snyder accepts Triple-A assignment

Catcher Chris Snyder -- who the Los Angeles signed in March -- has accepted an assignment to Triple-A. The veteran backstop was brought in to compete with Hank Conger in the battle to become Chris Iannetta's backup. Conger was able to solve his throwing issues, and he'll enter the season as the Halos' reserve behind the plate, while Snyder provides the team depth in the minors.

Ross could return soon

The best-case scenario would see Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Cody Ross rejoin the team next Monday, Apr. 8. Ross continues to recover from a strained calf, as he's set to begin a minor league rehab assignment later this week.
