The Rockies have placed first baseman Todd Helton on the 15-day disabled list with a left forearm strain, reports Troy Renck of the Denver Post.
More Rockies: Past & Present: The Birth of a Different Franchise
He will be placed on the disabled list retroactive to April 20, and the team has recalled Ryan Wheeler to take his spot on the 25-man roster.
Renck also mentions that Helton has been having issues with hitting, and that is the reason that he has hit the DL. He will likely be able to come right back to the lineup after he returns, and will not have to leave for any rehab assignments.
Helton is one of the longest-tenured players in the organization, and is the face of the franchise. His bat has been in the lineup for them for a long time, and they surely will hope to get him back as they try and continue their hot start.
