The Marlins have claimed reliever Duane Below off waivers, reports Tom D'Angelo of the Palm Beach Post.
Below was recently waived by the Detroit Tigers.
Below is a left-handed reliever, and will provide the struggling Marlins with bullpen depth. He has been sent to Triple-A New Orleans, and should stay there until someone gets hurt. He will likely be one of the first people up in case of injury.
Below had a 4.06 ERA for the Tigers in 2011 and 2012, but the team did not deem him good enough to continue with them this year. Left-handed relievers always carry some extra value, so he should be able to continue sticking around.
