Left-hander Dontrelle Willis has signed with the Long Island Ducks of the Atlantic League, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.
It was reported yesterday that veteran slugger Vladimir Guerrero also signed with the Ducks.
Willis hasn't appeared in the majors since 2011 when he was a member of the Cincinnati Reds. He started 13 games for the Reds that year, posting an even ERA of 5.00 with a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 1.54.
Following his stint with Cincy, Willis signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies in December of 2011. He was released by the team that spring, and signed with the Baltimore Orioles soon after. Willis went on to appear in four games -- including one start -- for the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate last season, allowing eight runs over 6 1/3 innings.
Willis voluntarily retired from the O's last July, and he was officially released by the club in October. He signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs in January, but they opted to cut him loose at the end of spring training.
