Rockies DFA Reid Brignac

The Rockies have DFA'd infielder Reid Brignac.

J. Meric

The Rockies have designated infielder Reid Brignac for assignment, the team announced via its Twitter account.

They picked him up at the beginning of the season when the Rays let him go to a roster crunch of their own. The Rockies were off to a surprisingly good start, but they have since faded and decided to cut ties with Brignac.

Brignac is a solid infielder who should be able to provide another team with depth at the spot, as he is able to play shortstop and typically can add some pop from the bat. He could be a good pick-up for a team like the Astros who could use him to fill their hole opened by the injury to Jose Altuve.
