The White Sox have claimed first baseman Mike McDade off waivers, the Indians announced via their official Twitter feed.
Beyond the Box Score: Mark Reynolds' Hot Start Looks To Be Legitimate
McDade was playing for the Indians' Triple-A affiliate in Columbus, and was batting .230 with zero home runs. He has been struggling so far this season, but has a track record of hitting previously in the minors.
The team has been active on the waiver wire under new GM Rick Hahn, and has been turning over its Triple-A depth and trying to supply the big league club with depth.
McDade probably won't ever be a regular starter for a Major League team, but he has the ability to be a potential bench bat in September if the team needs him in that role.
