After having his start originally pushed back due to a blister, Gonzalez has been placed on the DL by Baltimore.

The Baltimore Orioles placed starting pitcher Miguel Gonzalez on the disabled list Thursday. Gonzalez originally just had his scheduled start that night pushed back.

The team has called up Alex Burnett to take Gonzalez's roster spot, according to the Orioles official twitter page. The team does not currently have a starting pitcher listed for Saturday.

Gonzalez, 28, is suffering from a wart on his pitching thumb. The injury should not keep him out any longer than the 15 day minimum. This DL stint will be retroactive to May 4.

The right hander has a 4.58 ERA this season over six starts. That comes on the heels of a rookie season where he impressed with a 3.25 ERA over 18 major league appearances, 15 of which were starts.

Burnett, 25, has spent the last three seasons pitching in the Minnesota Twins bullpen. Though he struggled in 2010-11 with a 5.40 ERA between the two seasons, last year he brought his ERA down to 3.52. He has spent 2013 in the minors for Baltimore after being acquired off waivers. In six Triple-A relief appearances, he has allowed just one earned run while striking out eight batters.
