The Cleveland Indians signed left-hander Clay Rapada to a minor league deal and assigned him to Triple-A Columbus, reports Tony Lastoria of IndiansBaseballInsider.com. Rapada, 32, was released by the New York Yankees on June 4th.

After a stellar 2012 season in which he was 3-0 with a 2.82 ERA in 70 appearances out of the Yankees bullpen, Rapada has spent the year with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. In 10 appearances, he has posted a 1-0 record and 4.66 ERA in 9.2 innings of work.

In six major league seasons with the Cubs (2007), Tigers (2007-2009), Rangers (2010), Orioles (2011), and Yankees (2012), Rapada is 8-0 with a 4.15 ERA in 148 appearances out of the bullpen. He is the second lefty to join Triple-A Columbus in the last week, joining journeyman J.C. Romero.
