Draft signings: Rob Zastryzny, Jonah Heim

Some news on today's draft signings that was first reported by

Mike Stobe

We'll keep track of today's draft signings here:

Cubs sign Rob Zastryzny (2nd round, 41st overall)

A source has confirmed that the Chicago Cubs have officially signed left-hander Rob Zastryzny to a contract after selecting him in the second round (41st overall) in this year's draft. Zastryzny will receive a bonus of $1.1 million, which is $261,900 less than the assigned slot value for the 41st selection, $1,361,900.

Zastryzny, who pitched to a 3.38 ERA over 90.2 innings with the University of Missouri this season, will forgo his senior year as a Tiger to turn pro. He joins righty Tyler Skulina (4th round, 108th overall) and outfielder Charcer Burks (9th round, 258th overall) as the only three of the team's top ten picks to sign thus far. Picks including third baseman Kris Bryant (1st round, 2nd overall), outfielder Jacob Hannemann (3rd round, 75th overall), and righty Trey Masek (5th round, 138th overall) remain unsigned. By signing Zastryzny for less than slot value, the Cubs gain the ability to offer Bryant or Hannemann a higher bonus to sign with the team.

Orioles agree to sign Jonah Heim (4th round, 129th overall)

The Baltimore Orioles have agreed to a contract with catcher Jonah Heim, their fourth round selection (129th overall) in this year's draft, according to a source. Heim's deal is pending a physical, and he will receive slot value for the 129th pick ($329,700).

Heim, who is graduating from Amherst Central High School in New York, will forgo his commitment to Michigan State University to enter the Orioles organization and will join fellow signees Chance Sisco (2nd round, 61st overall), Stephen Tarpley (3rd round, 98th overall), and Travis Seabrooke (5th round, 159th overall) in committing to joining the Orioles. Baltimore's unsigned draftees include right-hander Hunter Harvey (1st round, 33rd overall) and outfielder Josh Hart (1st supp. round, 57th overall).
