Alex Rodriguez injury: Expects to be back Monday vs. Rangers

Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez said that he expects to be back with the Yankees on Monday night's game against the Rangers in an appearance on his appearance on WFAN with Mike Francesa.

In essence, Rodriguez expects to be activated off the DL when his 20-day rehab window ends on Monday. In ten rehab games, Rodriguez is hitting .179 (5-for-28) with one home run and seven strikeouts. Rodriguez is encouraged by his progress.

He is signed through 2018 and is owed over $238 million. He has not played a game this season and has multiple set backs while coming back from injury.

Rodriguez earlier this season had a slight run-in with Yankees general manager Brian Cashman when he tweeted that a non-Yankees doctor had cleared him for baseball injury, against the will of the team.

Rodriguez has recently made headlines as one of the player connected to the Biogenesis Lab and performance enhancing drugs. If Rodriguez is suspended, the Yankees will save around $7.5 million for every fifty games.
