Earlier: With less than a full workday ahead of us before the MLB non-waiver trade deadline passes (4:00PM ET 07/31/13), now is a good time to catch up on everything you need to know from around the league.

Trades that actually happened:

• Orioles acquire Bud Norris from Astros - The O's swooped in to snag Norris with less than a half an hour to go before the deadline.

• Royals acquire Justin Maxwell from Astros - Kansas City makes a bizarre, un-needed deal on Deadline Day.

• Padres acquire Ian Kennedy from the D'backs - The San Diego Padres have acquired right-hander Ian Kennedy from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for left-hander Joe Thatcher, minor league pitcher Matt Stites and a compensation round B draft pick.

• Red Sox acquire Jake Peavy from White Sox - The Red Sox seem to have swooped in and gotten the pitcher they were looking for.

• Athletics acquire Alberto Callaspo from Angels for Grant Green - The 30-year old is the second Angels veteran to be moved in as many days.

• Indians acquire Marc Rzepczynski from Cardinals - The Indians have been looking all over for a left-handed reliever.

• Dodgers sign Brian Wilson - The Beard will stay in California, but heads to the Giants' main rival.

Active rumors:

• Astros rumors: Is Bud Norris on the move? - Norris was scratched from his start on Tuesday, meaning that a deal could be close.

• Bud Norris rumors: Diamondbacks, Pirates, Orioles interested with deadline looming - The Astros' right hander may be the next player to be traded.

• Blue Jays rumors: Emilio Bonifacio, Melky Cabrera on the block - Bonifacio is the most likely Blue Jay to be dealt, according to a report.

• Cubs rumors: Kevin Gregg drawing interest from at least four teams - The Cubs are expected to move the closer before the trade deadline.

• Giants rumors: Javier Lopez on the block - The left-hander is the most likely Giant to be dealt in advance of the trade deadline.

• Mets rumors: New York expected to stand pat at deadline - Although Bobby Parnell and Marlon Byrd are attractive trade pieces, they will likely stay in Flushing.

• Yovanni Gallardo injury: Brewers RHP exits start with hamstring injury, unlikely to be traded - Gallardo is now a safe bet to spend the rest of 2013 in a Brewers' uniform.

• Diamondbacks rumors: Angels, Padres interested in Ian Kennedy - The right-hander would've been moved to clear salary space for Jake Peavy. A move is still possible.

• Royals looking at Beckham, Weeks and Kendrick - Kansas City is looking to upgrade second base, but no deal appears imminent. As of late Tuesday night, Bob Dutton described the KC trade scene as "crickets."

• Alex Rios rumors: Yankees interested in White Sox OF - The Pirates and White Sox have also discussed a potential Rios trade, but are reportedly not close to a deal. I think this could be the big one today.

• Red Sox rumors: Jackie Bradley Jr. has minor elbow injury, not traded - Simmer down, Twitter. Everyone thought JBJ was going to be the centerpiece to the Peavy trade just because he was pulled from a game in Pawtucket. As our own Chris Cotillo reports, it was just a small injury.

  The Pirates, Orioles, and Diamondbacks look like they're closing in on a deal.

• White Sox trade rumors: Alex Rios deal unlikely - The Pirates and Rangers are now said to have lukewarm interest in the outfielder.

• Orioles trade rumors: Baltimore interested in Morneau, Norris, Perez, Morse - The O's look to be aggressive buyers on deadline day.

• Phillies trade rumors: Michael Young willing to accept deal to Red Sox, Rangers - The veteran third baseman previously said he would only go to the Rangers.

• Seattle Mariners rumors: Morse, Perez, Wilhemsen available - The Mariners are in discussions with multiple teams for outfielder Michael Morse, Oliver Perez and Tom Wilhelmsen.

• Diamondbacks, Padres moving closer to Ian Kennedy deal - The first deal of Deadline Day seems close to becoming reality.

• Reds trying to acquire Giants Javier Lopez - MLB Daily Dish
  The Reds are targeting Giants reliever Javier Lopez, but the price remains high.
