With the Astros going nowhere this season, the team has begun to shut down some of its bright young talent.
Houston started with young starter Jarred Cosart, announcing on Tuesday that the 23-year old righty has been shut down for the season.

This season, Cosart has thrown 153 innings between AAA and the majors, exactly 38 innings more than he threw last season in the minor leagues. With the future in mind, the Astros made the easy decision to shut down one of their main hopes for the future.
"Honestly, I don't have much left," Cosart said to Houston media. "My body is tired. This is new for me. Missing time last year with the blisters gave me an extra blow, almost a two-week break for my arm. It's kind of like starting over and I missed no time this year, which was a huge plus for me. That was one of my goals this year, to stay healthy this year and be able to come in next year."
Cosart finishes the season with a 1.95 ERA, 33 strike outs and a 1.35 WHIP in ten starts.
