Must Reads
Originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 20th round of the 2009 draft out of Duke University, Hassan has been a solid career hitter in the minors, with a lifetime .291/.396/.436 slash line. He made his big league debut for the Red Sox this past season in early June, reaching base twice in nine plate appearances over three games (.125/.222/.125). He spent a majority of the season with Boston's Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket, where he hit .287/.378/.426 in 114 games, including .327/.411/.498 over his final 70 games.
The Massachusetts native does not project to be much more than an up-and-down bench option, capable of playing first base and the outfield corners.
