Free-agent third baseman Pablo Sandoval has received offers from the Red Sox, Giants and Padres and will decide on a destination next week, according to major-league sources. Though the potential addition of a mystery team cannot be ruled out, it appears that those teams are the final three in the hunt for Sandoval.
According to an earlier report from John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Padres made the highest offer to Sandoval, though he could be leaning towards going to the Red Sox. Sandoval is expected to command a deal in the five-year, $85-100 million range, with the Giants reportedly offering 5-years at $90 million and the Sox reportedly offering $95 million.
Sandoval has also been linked to the Blue Jays and White Sox so far this offseason, though it appears that those teams' aggressive signings (Russell Martin for the Jays, Adam LaRoche and Zach Duke for the White Sox) have made Sandoval too expensive for them.
