In their search for left-handed bullpen help, the Cardinals are expected to target Andrew Miller in free agency, according to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Goold has "been told a few times" that Miller will be a Cardinals' target this winter.
Miller, who was not eligible to receive a qualifying offer due to his inclusion in a midseason trade, is thought of as the second best reliever on the open market behind David Robertson. The southpaw is expected to draw strong interest from multiple teams, including the Red Sox, Orioles and Tigers, and could command a three- or four-year deal on the open market.
The Cardinals have Randy Choate as their resident left-hander in the bullpen, but are likely to target Miller due to the versatility he provides. If his pricetag proves to be too much for St. Louis, they could target lesser options like Zach Duke or Craig Breslow.
